When I was in high school, at this same web address, I wrote a blog called The Sweet and Lowdown—a title suggested to me by Jordan Eastman, and also, I believe, the name of some Woody Allen movie—in which I wrote many fleeting thoughts, ripped-off jokes, song lyrics, and other various ephemeral tedium. I was lucky to have readers among my friends, and the blog was fun until it slowly petered off and then remained, defunct, for a few years. Eventually I removed the archive from the internet entirely, and reading through those old posts, I am of course embarrassed to have ever been younger than I am now.

Recently I refurbed this web address to host my writing, particularly a poetry chapbook,
Dead Girlfriend Songs. Again, luckily, my friends were kind enough to read my work, many who had followed the old blog. Inspired by a few TinyLetter feeds (Todd Pruzan's and Rob Horning's), I think I would like to begin again.

I have not-a-lot of faith in my ability to post regularly. I imagine the product will consist of comments about what I'm reading, complaints about living in New York, recommendations toward my peers' work, and other various ephemeral tedium. I don't expect I'll consistently post my updates to Facebook (though perhaps I will, what else do I use Facebook for, except to display nice photos
Abigail Jennings has taken of me) but I will probably share them on Twitter, @JesseScottOwen, which is currently private because someday I'd like a job where I get to sit at the same desk every day.

Anyways, stay tuned, if you'd like.
